The Backwards Dinner, Constraint #67
Serve dessert first. Then the starter. The main course last. Nothing else changes. Observe how the order modifies pleasure and conversation.
Reference artist(s): Erwin Wurm.
The protocol
- Invite at least one other person. Prepare a full meal with starter, main course, and dessert.
- At the table, serve dessert first… without explanation if you want to maintain the surprise.
- Observe the reactions. Eat normally, but in reverse order.
- Continue with the starter. Then the main course.
- After the meal, discuss what the order changed… taste, conversation, the feeling of hunger and fullness. Note one observation per guest. Submit on the site.
Variants
- Serve all dishes at the same time on the table. Everyone eats in the order of their choice.
- Also reverse the cooking process… start with what is normally eaten last.
