The Double Gaze
Create a two-layer image. Two gazes, two truths.
Create a two-layer image (red/cyan, or two overlapping transparents). Viewed normally = one image. Through a filter = another. The viewer chooses what they see.
Instructions
- Choose two images or two texts that have a connection... contradiction, complement, dialogue.
- Layer them: red/cyan for an anaglyph effect, two overlapping transparents, two layers in different blend modes.
- To the naked eye, one image dominates. With a colored filter (red/cyan glasses, photo filter), the second appears.
- Print or publish the double image.
- Post on the site with the type of filter needed to see the second layer.
Variants
Fully digital version... two images in layers on Instagram or Photoshop.
Paste the image in public space with a small instructions on how to see the second layer.
