Fluxus Destruction
Slowly destroy an object you care about. Keep the remains.
Choose an object you care about. Destroy it. Slowly. Document each step. Keep the remains in a jar labeled with the date.
Instructions
- Choose an object you truly care about... not a useless object, not something you wanted to throw away. Something that has value for you.
- Take time to look at it, hold it, feel it. Photograph it whole. That's the first image of the series.
- Destroy it. Slowly. Methodically. No anger... precision. Photograph each intermediate step.
- Gather all the fragments. Put them in a jar or box. Label with: name of the object, destruction date, one sentence explaining why you chose it.
- Post the photo series on the site, from first to last state. The jar is the final work.
Variants
Don't destroy... transform. Cut, fold, partially burn, cover with paint.
Ask someone else to choose the object for you.
