Spend an hour communicating only through gestures. No words, no writing.
Choose an hour of your day. During this time, communicate only through gestures. No words, no writing, no phone.
Instructions
- Choose a moment when you'll be around other people. Warn them in advance if you want... or not.
- For one hour, express everything through gestures, facial expressions, and body language. No words.
- Don't mime words. Try to truly express yourself without language.
- Note the moments of frustration, amusement, or unexpected understanding.
- After the hour, write about what was easy, what was impossible, and what you discovered.
Variants
Do it with someone who is also in gestural mode. One hour of wordless dialogue.
Do it for a whole half-day. See how the experience changes with duration.
