The Written Thank You

Write a real thank-you letter. On paper. By hand. Mail it.

Write a thank-you letter by hand to someone who did something for you. Not a text, not an email. A real letter, on paper, in an envelope, mailed.

Instructions

  1. Think of someone who did something for you. Something you never really thanked them for.
  2. Write a letter by hand. On real paper. Take your time.
  3. Be specific. Not just 'thank you for everything.' Say exactly what they did and what it meant.
  4. Put the letter in an envelope. Write the address by hand. Put a stamp on it. Mail it.
  5. Write three lines for the site about what it felt like to write this letter.

Variants

Write a thank-you letter to someone you don't know. A bus driver, a cashier, a neighbor.

Write one letter a week for a month. Four thank-you letters to four different people.
