Spend a day recording every sound your home makes. Not you... the home itself. The fridge, the pipes, the floor, the wind. Make a catalog.
Instructions
- Choose a day when you're home. Have your phone ready to record.
- Record every sound the house makes. The fridge, the radiator, the floorboards, the wind through the window.
- Note the time and source of each sound.
- At the end of the day, make a list: 'Sound catalog of [your address], [date].'
- Choose the three most surprising sounds. Post them on the site with the catalog.
Variants
Do the same at someone else's home. Compare the sonic identities of two places.
Record the same sounds a month apart. Does the house change its voice with the seasons?
