Make a sign with a kind message. Hold it up in a public place. Observe.
Write a kind message on a sign. Something sincere, not a joke. Go to a public place and hold it up for thirty minutes. Observe what happens.
Instructions
- Write a message on a piece of cardboard. Something kind and universal. Not funny, not provocative. Sincere.
- Go to a busy public place. A square, a market, a station.
- Hold up your sign for thirty minutes. Don't explain, don't talk to anyone unless they talk to you.
- Observe reactions. The looks, the smiles, the indifference, the discomfort.
- Photograph the scene. Write about what you felt holding a kind message in a public space.
Variants
Do it with several people, each holding a different kind message. A gentle demonstration.
Write the message in a foreign language. See if kindness transcends language.
