The Anonymous Compliment
Write compliments for strangers. Leave them where they'll be found.
Write small compliment notes for strangers. Leave them in public places where they'll be found: on a bench, in a library book, on a cafe table.
Instructions
- Write five sincere compliments on small pieces of paper. Generic but kind: things anyone would be happy to read.
- Choose five different public places where someone will find them.
- Leave the notes discreetly. Don't watch people find them.
- Note where you left each one and what you wrote.
- A week later, go back to those places. Imagine what happened. Write about it.
Variants
Write specific compliments for people you actually see. Describe them without knowing them.
Leave one note a day for a month. Thirty compliments, thirty places.
