Respond in alexandrines all day. At the supermarket checkout too.
For an entire day, answer every question in alexandrines... twelve syllables. No exceptions. Even at the supermarket checkout.
Instructions
- Review the alexandrine the day before... twelve syllables, a slight caesura in the middle if possible.
- From morning on, apply the constraint. To each question asked, mentally construct your answer in twelve syllables before speaking.
- Don't warn anyone unless you absolutely have to in a critical professional context.
- Note the best lines... those that were natural, those that deserved to exist.
- At the end of the day, write a "verse report"... a poem of twelve alexandrines about your day. Post on the site.
Variants
Answer in haikus rather than alexandrines.
Answer only with questions, always in alexandrines.
